I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this post. When do natural flea treatments or flea products work best?
When there are no fleas of course!
Many people swear by particular treatments for their pets and say that it is doing wonders for the ticks and fleas because they don't see any. But that may only be part of the story...
For an indoor pet, which does not have contact with other pets, the chance of picking up a flea infestation is reasonably remote. So the use of a natural flea control product - or any other flea control product for that matter will be brilliant.
The real test for a natural flea product comes when an animal is definitely infested with fleas. Then if the product is like garlic natural flea treatment for example it has the opportunity to demonstrate its ability to repell fleas - whereas some of the natural oils such as tea tree oil are actually lethal to fleas and also bacteria. Just watch out though because for a number of these natural products there are reports that in some instances they may be toxic to the dog or cat.
So by all means try a natural flea control - but try to confirm that your cat or dog actually has fleas before getting pleased with the results.
Welcome any and all comments on the natural flea treatments that have worked for you - partcularly those treatments which have completely eliminated a flea infestation.

Natural flea treatment - the cheap and easy option
When most people think of natural flea treatment they tend to think of the plant based compounds that they can use to ward off a flea infestation. These may be things like garlic or eucalyptus oil and other 'natural' flea treatments like that.
But there is another natural flea treatment which is cheaper, quicker and easier than applying these items to your pet. And it avoids any potential toxic effects which may come from using some natural treatments.
It's your domestic vacuum cleaner! Have you got one of those?
OK you may be wandering how can my vacuum cleaner be a natural flea treatment.
Your cleaner or hoover as it's called in some countries is a physical treatment for fleas. As I'm sure you know, fleas live on your pets but also have three of the four life stages, namely flea larvae, or larva, flea pupae or pupa and finally flea eggs. While flea eggs are laid on your pet they don't stay there for long. So while you may think that you need a flea treatment for your dog, actually you may not need to do that at all if you can make a difference with cleaning your home.
The vibrations from your vacuum cleaner help to speed up the flea live cycle and can stimulate the pupal flea to leave its cocoon and find a pet to feed on. Also the eggs and flea larvae which generally can be found deep in carpet pile, can be removed by a very effective cleaner.
So when you are thinking about natural flea treatment - don't forget the one you clean the carpet with. It's one of the cheapest and easiest flea treatments of all!
